no sword for time
no time for words
holding sway

come this 'way
a sway, a swab
a swoon of swans

flour   ice   plastic
sacks of dog poop
left in the street

my bag is yours
your bag is mine
left in the house

one inch, one foot
one foot, one yard
a yard full of toes

spun litter ragas
wipe away the toes of
all the toads in our yard

letters make a word
words make a poem
poems make a book

What It Is

LAST NIGHT I DREAMED THE PRICE OF BEAUTIFUL FLESH TONED PERFUME

LATER, AT A PARTY, A FRIEND DREW A MAN WITH CUNTS ON HIS SKULL, THEN

I SPRAYED A NUDE MUGSHOT OF HIM OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN DOOR, AS A GIFT?

I DON’T KNOW

I REMEMBER A SKELETON PRICKING

THAT MAN’S SKULL WITH PINS

AS IF IT WAS A VOODOO DOLL

FOLLOWED BY

A WOMAN SMEARING ALFALFA SPROUTS

ONTO HER FRESHLY BARED BOOKS

I AWOKEIN A GUILTY SWEAT

AS IF THE WHOLE ROOM HAD

SEEN THE SKIN

PEEL OFF MY

COW

Wally and Wanda

Day One:

Whistling windows wake Wanda

While whoozy Wally whizzes water

Wanda wonders

Why walruses want waxed walls?

Why wax walls when wine waits?

Walruses wait while Wally waltzes Wanda

Day Two:

Whirling wind wakes Wanda

While whoozy Wally whizzes water

Wanda wonders

Why walruses whine

When Wally winks?

Wine waits while waxed walls wane

Day Three:

Whittling walruses wake Wanda

While whoozy Wally whizzes water

Wanda wonders

Why walruses whittle waxed walls?

Why wank Wally’s willy when wine waits?

Wally wakes when Wanda wanders

Day Four, Five, Six, etc.?

Water will whizz

C. Mehrl Bennett squirrel greyed

Squirrels are like rats in that they forage and build nests

However, squirrels live in trees and rats are under foot

But who am I to judge?

I am just another creature like a squirrel or a rat

We also forage and build out nests, fornicate

               and reproduce, nurture our offspring

As a mere creature of this larger universe

These overhead and underfoot beings

               seem AMAZING to me

Humans, all you seers and thinkers, doers and polluters

Stop and ask: What effect do we have on our environment?

Left foot, Left an imprint so “what/where is Right?”
